Responsibilities

Ensures that campus IT infrastructure is designed and installed according to University standards.
Designs, recommends, and oversees complex projects as they relate to the University's communications infrastructure. Responsible for reviewing, planning, estimating, evaluating, and coordinating infrastructure installations, including communications systems, VoIP, data networks, cabling system pathway, fiber optic backbone, security access and control, video surveillance, and other critical infrastructure. A State vehicle, golf cart, utility vehicle, or all-terrain vehicle will be used to reach site premises. A valid drives license will be needed in order to operate vehicle.
Represents ITS in meetings with design professionals for the planning and construction/renovation of campus facilities. Reviews construction documents and ensures that IT infrastructure design adheres to University standards. Meets with customers (department staff and faculty) to determine needs of projects. Performs site inspections and coordinates with construction management team, and/or user group as may be the case, during all phases of construction.
Provides engineering support to ITS Network Deployment in the installation, maintenance, repairing, servicing, modifying, and troubleshooting of a variety of complex University telecommunications, data networking, CATV and other critical infrastructure. Develops and recommends policy and guidelines for the day to day operation and management of these installations.
Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two years' experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.
Ability to convey technical information to technical and non- technical users.
Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
Ability to document existing and new processes.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to read and interpret architectural/engineering construction drawings, specifications; be familiar with and understand building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Ability to meet project deadlines.
Ability to perform on-site design services and field engineering work.
Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Ability to utilize blueprints and specifications.
Ability to utilize problem solving skills.
Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within the telecommunications, network, and data fields.
Valid driver's license is required

Preferred

Have an RCDD, RTPM or other Bicsi certification
Have experience supervising / managing technicians and contractors
Be proficient with Microsoft applications including Exchange 365, Word and Excel.
Capable of creating letters and spreadsheets
Understanding of and experience using AutoCAD

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
