Advertised Job Summary
The School of Visual Art and Design at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a non-tenure track Instructor to teach four courses per semester in Art Education. This is a nine-month appointment, beginning August 16, 2017 and ending May 15, 2018. This position may be renewable based on satisfactory performance, school needs, and the availability of funding.

The School of Visual Art and Design, http://artsandsciences.sc.edu/art/, employs 32 full-time faculty members who teach classes for over 560 majors in four disciplines: art education, art history, media arts, and studio art. The School, which is accredited with NASAD and NCATE, offers BA, BFA, IMA, MA, MAT, and MFA degrees.Required Education and Experience
The position requires an M.A., with a Ph.D. or ED.d. in Art Education preferred, and experience teaching on the K-12 level and in higher education. The teaching load is 4:4 in Art Education. Courses for Fall 2017 will include ARTE 520 Art for Elementary Schools and ARTE 571, Directed Teaching in Art (internship in local schools), and its corresponding seminar, ARTE 565/756. Future teaching could also include ARTE 101, Introduction to Art, ARTE 260, Interdisciplinary Relationships in the Arts, ARTE 705, Curriculum Development, and other courses as required.Preferred Qualifications
