Residency Coordinator

Position Summary The successful candidate will assist the MSU Integrated Residency Program and General Surgery Program Director with the Residency by ensuring that regulatory and accreditation standards are met, educational activities that support the curriculum are established, departmental policies are created and enforced, and recruitment strategies are implemented so that a highly successful residency program is maintained; supports the accreditation process, including coordinating and actively participating in site visits; will assist in planning Department events (Graduation, Orientation, Resident Recruitment, Annual Retreat). This position requires independent judgment and the ability to handle stressful situations and highly confidential information.   Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through the first two or three years of college, such as an Associate's degree in a business-related field or in a field which corresponds to the particular department of employment; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation software and/or desktop publishing, web page software; office procedures, or in performing responsibilities related to the operational activities of the employing unit; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications A bachelor's degree in a business related field; extensive use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher (labels, mail merges, data entry, create invitations); extensive scanning and filing experience; ability to dictate meeting recordings and take detailed meeting minutes; knowledge of video and phone conferencing; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; ability to work on multiple projects and see them through to completion; ability to organize work load and prioritize activities; willingness to learn multiple programs (New Innovations, ACGME, ABS, SCORE, Pass Machine, Sparrow On-Call); ability to work in a team setting, work out problems without much direction, and contribute to maintaining a positive work environment; ability to problem solve and make decision; ability to talk in large group settings; ability to lift upwards of 20 lbs; ability to walk for mid/long period of time); organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality.   Required Application Materials
