Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Broadcasting, Communications or related field is required.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Three (3) to Five (5) years of live event production experience is required, seven (7) or more years of related professional experience for the senior level. Two (2) or more years of experience with Daktronics or similar LED control software and equipment, preferably in a Division I or professional sports environment is also required.
Other qualifications include: Extensive sports knowledge; Extensive knowledge of audiovisual methods, mediums and techniques used for live video production; Proven artistic skills and creativity; Knowledge of Adobe software to create videos, animations and graphics; Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to accomplish projects under tight time constraints; Knowledge of rules and regulations of the Big Ten, NCAA, WCHA, and Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and how they apply to Video Services; Effective oral and written communication skills; Ability to lift up to 40 pounds; Ability to sit at a terminal and operate a computer for long periods of time; and ability to work a flexible schedule which will include nights and weekends, as required by events.
Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's License or have the ability to obtain one upon appointment and meet and maintain State driving requirements.
Under the general supervision of the Director of Video Services and the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Video Services, this position oversees live production broadcasts and content creation for all University of Wisconsin Athletics video board events.
Duties include: Overseeing the live production of video board broadcasts at all UW Athletics venues - Planning and managing the live production for video board events; Communicating with other departments and coordinating the execution of show scripts; Producing entertaining and engaging video board broadcasts, ensuring a positive fan experience; Managing the maintenance and organization of control room equipment; Coordinating with staff to ensure equipment is set up and operational; Training and guiding live production crew on the use of video equipment and software, and teaching staff various broadcasting procedures and providing direction and feedback. Coordinating content for live video board events - Producing content for LED signage at all video board events; Fulfilling various video requests from internal and external departments; Managing the programming of LED signs and organization of files on a shared network; Directing staff and third party vendors to manage creative content projects, and overseeing studio and location shoots, as needed. Managing full-time, freelance, and student staff - Overseeing the recruitment of student and freelance staff; Coordinating pre and post event staff meetings; Scheduling and managing staff hours and wages; and acting as a resource for staff on questions and concerns.
