The University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus seeks a full-time, University Staff (non-classified), Assistant to Childcare Director to work in the Addiction Research and Treatment Services (ARTS) at Ft. Logan Campus in Southwest Denver.
This position will act as a floating ECT and child care center Assistant Director. This position will:
*Provide direct childcare to children (infants, toddlers, preschoolers).
*Provide a positive and enriching environment for all families and staff in center.
*Assist with development, implementation and training/coaching on policies and procedures related to childcare licensing, quality standards, curriculum/assessment, and community resources.
*Provide mock ITERS/ECERS ratings and provide recommendations and coaching for on-going quality improvement.
*Assist with quality ratings and quality improvement initiatives.
*Coordinate and follow-up with early intervention and ancillary services and providers.
*Assist with programs such as Child Development Associate pilot, Early Head Start gap assessment, other grant funded programs and initiatives.
*Assist with developing and providing center events and community outreach.
*Act as Director and provide oversight for center, staff and families when the director is not present for more than 60% in a given day of operation.
*Perform other duties that are assigned or required.
PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.
Salary and Benefits:
The hiring salary for this position is $36,267 and is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime compensation.

*Possess a bachelor's degree in early childhood education, or a directly related field from an accredited institution
*One (1) year of professional level experience (working in a lead position at a licensed childcare facility).
*Use of Creative Curriculum and/or Teaching Strategies Gold or other evidence based curriculum and assessment tool.
*Training or coaching experience-using ITERS/ECERS, Colorado Shines, and/or child care licensing.
*Must have verifiable experience working with young children (infants, toddlers, preschoolers)
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis but not for the specific required experience.
Conditions of Employment:
*Presently childcare center director qualified per current State of Colorado Child Care Licensing Rules and Regulations.
*Must agree to fingerprinting and criminal background check. Required background checks include a review with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) AND the Central Registry of Child Protection (Trails).
*Subject to pre-employment, post-accident or incident or reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing per UCD Addiction Research and Treatment Services Department Policies.
*In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), ARTS cannot employ individuals (who may have contact with residents) who have (1) engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other Institution (as defined in 42 U.S. C. § 1997); (2) been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or (3) been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in (1-3) of this section. Material omissions regarding such misconduct, or the provision of materially false information, shall be grounds for termination
*Must be willing and able to work various shifts from 6:30 am to 8:30 pm and primarily 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
*Must be willing and able to lift at least 35 lbs, walk, squat/kneel, site on floor, lift and lower children into and out of cribs, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children's health and safety
*Must be willing and able to pass a medical examination
*Must be willing and able to attend center events in the evenings (at least twice monthly) and Saturdays (2-4 annually)
*Experience providing services to vulnerable families (i.e. low income, trauma; domestic violence; mental health treatment; substance use disorder)
*Prior supervisory experience.
