Nature of Work

This position will work 15 hours per week as a part-time administrative assistant in the University Writing Center (UWC). The UWC is a service to UWG students, therefore its closures closely mirror the academic schedule, including holiday and spring breaks. Summer closures may be intermittent and will be determined by the supervisor based on the needs of the campus. Duties will include creating and executing both in-class presentations (including but not limited to “Introduction to the UWC,” grammatical concepts, plagiarism, research, etc.) and a weekly workshop series (topics based on the needs of various departments across campus); assisting with other outreach events (including but not limited to Preview Days, Orientations, evening workshop opportunities, etc.); maintaining the UWC’s current social media presence and creating and maintaining new social media accounts for the Center; helping craft marketing materials for the Center (specifically focusing on weekly workshop series); and tutoring within the Center as needed.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and very strong writing and communication skills (both in individual and group settings) are required. Candidate should also have strong interpersonal skills.


Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited university. Previous tutoring experience and/or public speaking experiences are preferred but not required.



Minimum $13.41 - Midpoint $17.85


Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Ability to stand for extended periods of time (i.e. for presentations in various environments), and ability to sit for longer periods of time (i.e during times when in-office work and/or tutoring are needed).
