The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Science seeks candidates for a wage lecturer to assist in teaching the required third-year-year course, MAE 3310, "Aerospace Structures." This course includes design of elements under stress, bending and torsion of thin-walled beams, energy methods to determine structural elements, bucking analysis and basic concepts of Finite Element Analysis.
Candidates should have completed an M.S. or a Ph.D in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. The appointment will be made for the Fall 2017 semester with the possibility for a renewal. The position will begin 20 August 2017.
