Faculty - Director of Clinical Education Respiratory Therapy

Position Category: Faculty - Tenure Track (FT)

The Director of Clinical Education (DCE) is responsible for all aspects of the clinical experiences of students enrolled in the Respiratory Therapy B.S. degree program, including organization, administration, continuous review and revision, planning for and development of locations (with appropriate supervision) for evolving practice skills, and the general effectiveness of the clinical experience. There must be evidence that sufficient time is devoted to the program by the DCE so that his or her educational and administrative responsibilities can be met.

Required Qualifications:
Must have a Master’s Degree or master degree is impending.
Must hold a valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential and current state license.
Must have a minimum of four years clinical experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
Must have two teaching experience in an accredited respiratory Therapy program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of curriculum planning.
  • Knowledge of all clinical aspects required for Respiratory Therapist.
  • Knowledge of the American Association of Respiratory Care credentialing process and procedures.
  • Knowledge of CoARC standards and policies for program accreditation.
  • Must have all the clinical skills required of a registered respiratory therapist.
  • Skills in the instruction of lectures and laboratory courses.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to form and maintain affiliation agreements with local clinical sites.
  • Ability to develop and teach assigned courses.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective educational partnerships at the campus, local, state and national levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

Physical Requirements:
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/classroom work environment.
