Florida Medical Practice Plan Administration - College of Medicine
Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, facilitate safe movement of patients through the clinic space while ensuring timely and effective patient/work flow.
Take medical history for assigned sections in electronic health record (EHR).
Enter information into EHR.
Provide instruction to patients as directed by physician.
Document in assigned sections of patient's medical record in a timely manner: for example, reason for referral, vital signs, medications, allergies, use of assistive device for mobility,
results of specified geriatrics assessment or screening, and any other assigned section of the medical record.
Ensure patients and their families understand (verbal and printed) instructions and appropriate use of patient education handouts.
Ensure referral records are available to physician prior to a patient's initial appointment.
Ensure last physician note is available to physician prior to a patient's follow up appointment.
Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments according to industry quality standards.
Provide patient education via Patient Portal or print and maintain patient education handouts, patient assessment/ screening forms as needed.
Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician calls.
Triage and process messages from patients and other office staff and referral providers to physician.
All other duties as assigned by Medical Practice Manager.
High school diploma/equivalent. Must be trained as a licensed Practical Nurse, EMT, or Registered Nurse. Must have valid FL Licensure.
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures.
Must be able to provide exceptional customer service, phone etiquette, and adapt to specific needs of the geriatric population and those being served via multimedia.
Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
Ability to measure vital signs.
Ability to learn and develop new skills related to the geriatric and telehealth populations, specifically the use of standardized screening tools for geriatric and behavioral health
populations, including the scoring of certain tools and relay of information to provider.
Experience obtaining and documenting specific history from patient.
Experience with basic wound care, including cleaning and performing simple dressing changes or bandaging affected areas.
Ability to assist physician in exam room or remotely via multimedia, as needed.
Ability to optimize physician instruction and examination in telehealth situations.
Ability to control environment and manage patient participation in telehealth situations.
Emphasis will be placed on education or experience in the field of nursing.
This position is located in Tallahassee, FL with occasional travel off campus and to other FSU SeniorHealth sites. This position is part-time with the possibility to move to full-time.
Anticipated Salary Range
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
This is an OPS/temporary Job.
This position will be approximately 16 hours per week.
Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting.
