Building Trades Technician

Prepares surfaces for painting. Uses paint remover, sanders, scrapes, sandpaper, vacuum cleaners, chemicals and cleaning materials. Caulks, spackles and patches surfaces as required. Cleans and repairs painting equipment, orders supplies and equipment. Maintains small level of working stock. Applies epoxy coatings to walls and floors of showers, patios, and walkways for waterproofing and/or resurfacing purposes.
Provides supplies and equipment for assistants.
Performs other maintenance work as assigned by supervisor.
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of painting experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to two years. Note: Technical or vocational degree in appropriate building trade area may substitute for experience.
Experience or knowledge with the application and performance of different paints, oils, latex and urethane.
Experience or knowledge with the application of stains and clear finishes.
Experience or knowledge of plastering, hard coat and mixing compound.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
A valid State of Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain.
Ability to meet the physical demands of this position to include working on ladders and scaffolding up to 8 feet and lifting materials up to 50 pounds.
This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.
Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
