General Summary of Position:
This being an internal opportunity, only current UML Employees, irrespective of Bargaining units are eligible to apply for this position.

The Department Assistant supports the departments of Accounting, and Operations & Information Systems within the Manning School of Business. The position provides support services for the department chairpersons in support of activities for the department including, but not limited to faculty teaching, research and service responsibilities.

Specific duties include:
-Providing confidential and routine administrative support to the department chairs
-Assisting with schedules and recruitment of faculty
-Assisting with website and other departmental communications
-Assisting with other general office duties as assigned and providing assistance on special projects.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):
-Minimum of H.S. Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent with some college helpful
-Minimum of three years related administrative/office experience with increasing responsibilities in an academic setting
-The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
-Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook is required

Other Considerations:
-Bachelor's degree preferred
-Experience with Enterprise Systems (ERPs) such as Course
Registration and Human Resources Management systems
-Trained in ePAF (Electronic Personnel Action Forms)
-Ability to type 40 to 50 words per minute
-Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
-Ability to work effectively with Chairs, faculty, students, visitors and diverse populations
-Ability to project a professional departmental image when interacting with others in person, or by e-mail or telephone
