Responsibilities

This position provides accounting/fiscal support and services on federal and state contracts and grants within Sponsored Research Administration (SRA), which manages $200 million in research expenditures annually for the University. The position responsibilities include evaluation of project expenditures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and University policies, completing financial reports and billings, monitoring accounts receivable, and ensuring that projects are closed in an accurate and timely manner. The position is also responsible for assisting, training, and meeting with University personnel in resolving specific fiscal and accounting problems as well as serving as the liaison between departmental staff across the University and representatives from funding agencies. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, reviewing contract terms and conditions to ensure they are appropriately set up in the accounting system as well as assisting with audit requests when needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and two years of financial/accounting experience; or a high school diploma and six years of experience in the same. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
Ability to perform accurately in a detail oriented environment.
Ability to prioritize and multitask in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to review and reconcile financial data for accuracy, completeness and compliance.
Knowledge of accounting systems and practices.
Experience analyzing, troubleshooting, and problem-solving data and accounting problems.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Client/customer service experience.
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or comparable software.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business management and two years of contract and grant accounting experience.Experience using PeopleSoft/Oracle. Ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations as well as University policies and procedures.

Anticipated Salary Range

Anticipated salary range is $40,000 - $45,000.

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Soft Money Funded Position

This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.

Schedule

If not otherwise specified, schedule is M-F, 8-5.
