IT SR PROJECT LEADER
Duties: As a member of Penn's Information Systems and Computing's Project Management Office (PMO), lead large, strategic cross-campus projects, including a multi-year, multi-million dollar initiative to create the Next Generation of Student Systems for the Penn Campus. Interact at the executive level, successfully addressing stakeholders of all perspectives while minding tactical components of major projects, including managing schedules, scope and budgets. Proactively monitor and control all aspects of the project to support status reporting to various constituent groups, including project financial reports, schedule status, risks, issues, dependencies, team cohesiveness and performance, client satisfaction, barriers to success and overall project health. Recommend and lead corrective action based on qualitative and quantitative information to address project escalations and drive to satisfactory resolutions. Develop communication channels to facilitate project planning, execution and the adoption of change necessary to successfully achieve operational goals. Work collaboratively within the Project Management Organization to improve delivery and outcomes for all projects. Manage, track, and advise on key performance indicators and metrics that define the overall project health and financial position on a week by week and month by month basis, elevating awareness of significant risks to ensure appropriate focus on issue resolution. Contribute to the development of an enterprise PMO.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Project Management, Business or related field and a minimum of four years of project management/leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale, enterprise technology projects with budgets greater than $20MM. Client collaboration experience and experience in simultaneously managing multiple projects and working with cross-functional teams. Experience using outsourced teams as well we jointly resourced teams across projects. Demonstrated strong negotiating, planning, team building, coaching, financial and risk management skills. A good understanding of emerging technologies. Must be able to lead efforts to assess the competitiveness of new technologies in relation to the overall goals and objectives of the University. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong leadership ability, as well as innovation and creativity in delivering technology solutions. Experience in higher education and PMP or comparable professional certification are preferred. Knowledge of Higher Ed Student Registration, Billing and Financial Aid and supporting systems such as Banner are a plus. Experience in a matrix organization structure and leading business process improvement projects is desirable. Experience with complex COTS (i.e., ERP) solutions and developing custom software solutions as well as familiarity working in a program environment with multiple projects reporting to the program manager are desirable. ERP, Agile and Iterative experience is a must.
