Position Summary: The Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine is seeking a full-time, fixed-term position at the Clinical Instructor level for the role of clinician on the UNC Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) operating in Wake County. ACTT is an intensive, multi-disciplinary community-based, mental health service targeting adults with primary severe and persistent mental illness as well as co-occurring substance use disorders, chronic medical issues, and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities. This position is responsible for the coordination of ACTT services for an assigned group of individuals served by the ACT Team, including the assessment, planning, and coordination of evidence-based interventions, rehabilitation, and support services. ACTT services target individuals who have significant functional impairments, as well as complicating treatment factors including frequent psychiatric hospitalizations, homelessness or housing instability, criminal justice involvement, or other barriers to engagement in more traditional office-based services. Areas of focus for this position will be based on the clinical needs of the caseload and could include housing, employment, psychiatric rehabilitation, integrated dual disorders treatment for co-occurring disorders, or other evidence-based therapeutic modalities.

Education Requirements: Applicant must hold a Master's Degree in a mental health or related field (Psychology, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling Psychology) and one year of direct work experience with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses. Licensure, full or provisional, is required.

Qualification and Experience: Must have a strong commitment to the right and ability of each person with a severe and persistent mental illness to live in normal community residences; work in market jobs; and have access to helpful, adequate, competent, and continuous support services. Skills and competence to establish supportive, trusting relationships with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses and respect for client rights and personal preferences in treatment are essential. Must have a valid NC driver's license. Experience working in the Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) model is preferred.
