Position Summary: The School of Government seeks to hire a tenure-track faculty member at the assistant or associate professor level who will work in the field of state and local leadership and governance with a focus on elected officials. This position will focus on educating and producing scholarship for local and state government public officials to help them develop the knowledge and skills they need to lead and govern their communities. This position will be part of the School's Center for Public Leadership and Governance, which is a new initiative designed to integrate, coordinate, and expand the School's leadership, governance, and management programs and scholarship. The faculty member will also have the opportunity to collaborate with the School's MPA program. Faculty appointments in the School of Government are 12-month, rather than 9-month academic year. Work is centered in Chapel Hill but will require some travel. Education Requirements: Doctorate in public administration, public policy, political science, or related field.

Qualification and Experience: A record of, or demonstrated potential for practically focused and engaged teaching, consulting, research, and academic and professional publications; a commitment to improving public service; and willingness and ability to work effectively with diverse audiences.
