We invite candidates to apply for our Manager Upward Bound Program position. The Program Manager will manage all Upward Bound (UB) activities and services designed for 63+ project participants from Eustis, Mt. Dora, Tavares, Leesburg, and Umatilla high schools. In addition, will facilitate services that would assist participants with placement into a post-secondary college or university upon high school graduation. The Manager will develop and coordinate an engaging academic curriculum and support services to be implemented throughout the school year, including two Saturday sessions per month and will maintain a regular presence in high schools and demonstrate an ability to build strong relationships with high school staff, students, and parents/guardians. Candidate must demonstrate diverse teaching strategies and an ability to adapt instruction to students’ needs. In addition, will coordinate a six-week academic Summer Program that partially (1 week) includes chaperoning project participants at a college campus. The Manager will supervise full-time and part-time project staff. The position will be based at the Leesburg Campus. Responsible for demonstrating LSSC’s core value of Service Excellence; respect, competence, responsiveness, and collaboration, in all interactions.
Note: This is a grant-funded position. Multi-year grants are funded based on the fiscal years for the full grant cycle. However, there is no guarantee that funding is available year after year and employment with the college after each grant- funded cycle is not assured.
Required: Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, social work, or related field. Minimum three years direct experience in K-12 classroom setting.
Preferred: Master’s Degree in education, counseling, social work, or related field. A Master’s Degree may be substituted for 3 years direct K-12 classroom experience. Professional experience working with disadvantaged youth and grants preferred.
