Job Description

Position Title:

Public Safety Officer

Department:

Public Safety Department

Reports to:

Sergeant on tour, Lieutenant on tour, Captain and Chief

Overall Responsibility:

The Patrol Officer at Rochdale Village is supporting and championing the safety and peace of mind of Rochdale Village residents, employees and visitors.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

The Patrol Officer will perform all the duties listed below:
  • Patrol assigned locations throughout complex, investigate alleged offenses and file accurate reports.
  • Must maintain radio transmissions at all times.
  • Follow proper protocol and procedures in the event of crime/accident/incident. Interview complainant(s) to get precise information. File a clearly written and detailed report of crime/accident/incident.
  • Frequent patrol of building lobbies, stairwells and other assigned area(s) to ensure unauthorized persons are not loitering.
  • Maintain a liaison with hall patrols in assigned groups.
  • Check and report any loitering or frequenting hallways and stairwells.

Skills and Attributes:

Education: Minimum of high school diploma. Secondary Degree in Law enforcement a plus.

Attributes: Ability to be discrete; excellent attention to detail; punctual; fair and consistent. Good writing ability inclusive of spelling and grammar. Must be proactive and display the ability to control hostile and/or confrontational situations.

Experience Requirements:

Candidate must have a current security license; expired license will not be accepted. Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience, preferably in a residential, college and/or hospital environment. Must be physically fit (able to maintain extensive walking, standing, climbing and running) and lift up to 75lbs.
