Job Description Summary:

The Payroll Services department is dedicated to providing accurate and timely services to employees and other stakeholders. They are responsible for paying all employees in compliance with federal and local labor laws. It is the mission of Payroll Services to pay all employees for time worked in an accurate and timely manner. Payroll Services manages the time reporting system and administers the SmarTrip and Pre-Tax Transportation programs.

The Payroll Associate reports directly to the Supervisor, Payroll and is responsible for providing support and continuity of Payroll services by performing the following duties:

Reviews requests for supplemental paychecks, calculates monies due, and initiates payment.

Reviews payroll action forms and initiates related transactions to modify employee records to include: tax withholding certificates, University parking, health and wellness and union dues deduction requests.

Gathers and reports statistical data on a monthly basis to include the late timesheet report and payroll processing counts.

Reviews error reports during payroll processing and initiates changes to ensure timely and accurate payrolls.

Assumes responsibility for responding to all inquiries related to payroll in a timely,
accurate, and professional manner.

Responsibilities may also include one or more of the following:
-Processing voided checks and stop payments.
-Supporting the check and notification of deposit processing (printing and folding).
-Imaging of payroll documents.
-Processing employment verifications.
-W2 form reissue.
-Processing payroll related cash receipts.
-Supporting the ACH process.
-Processing direct deposit input.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

A minimum of two years of fiscal experience, to include one year of automated payroll experience or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and credentials is acceptable.

Previous experience in a University environment is desirable.
