BUSINESS SYSTEMS ANALYST SR
Duties: Applications and Information Services (AIS), a unit within Information Systems and Computing (ISC), works with University clients to plan, acquire, develop, and maintain the University's core business and student support systems. AIS is currently seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to join the team responsible for the implementation and support of research-related systems. This position will review, analyze, support, and evaluate information systems, processes and client needs; perform and participate in the analysis, design and implementation of systems following appropriate standards and requirement gathering; conduct tests or test planning sessions; provide input for feasibility and prepare user/technical documentation; evaluate information gathered from multiple sources; reconcile conflicts; decompose high-level information into details; interpret low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs. Translate business and user requests involving enhancements and improvement initiatives to software systems into business requirement specification documents. Design the solution, coordinate completion/development of the solution, and ensure delivery of tested solution to the user. Document and track issues, action items, user requirements, and deliverables. May manage small projects. Accomplish all work within established methodologies and standards.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and at least four years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Applied systems analysis experience within a large-scale administrative computing environment with emphasis in applications and systems architectural design and development. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge across multiple technical environments and business knowledge. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated high level analytical, problem solving, and debugging skills. Ability to work as an effective team member in support of the team objectives; ability to interact and communicate effectively with non-technical personnel, administrative users, staff, faculty and students, as well as professional Information Technology staff. Must be self-motivated, and be able to multi-task and function in situations with changing priorities. Strong requirements elicitation, specification, and validation knowledge and experience. Demonstrated successful knowledge of major components of the Systems Development Lifecycle methodology in the context of major systems implementations, including requirements gathering and development of functional specifications. Fundamental understanding of business processes. Experience providing support, documentation, testing, and systems analysis for enterprise-level applications.
