Job Summary: The Director of Conference Services & Special Events is responsible for the administration and coordination in planning and scheduling of conferences, workshops, meetings, summer camps, and related University functions and special events. This position develops and implements sales and marketing strategies, negotiates rates, coordinates the schedule for internal and external events and ensures effective on-site management and full compliance with all University and applicable external guidelines. This position will originate policies and procedures regarding departmental operations, as well as manage full-time support staff and two interns and eight summer conference assistants. This position works closely with the Senior Executive Assistant to the President and Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff regarding the coordination and management of all Presidential and Board of Trustee Events that includes but is not limited to Commencement, Convocation, Presidential and Board of Trustees Meetings/Dinners, Senior Leadership Retreats, American Dream Conference, State of the University, Donor Breakfast and Lunches, Welcome Receptions, etc. The position works closely with Food Services, Physical Resources, Academic Technology Solutions, and Campus Security to facilitate an exemplary experience for all conference clients and University constituents. Occasional nights and weekends and travel between Chicago and Schaumburg campuses required.

Working Hours:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: A bachelor's degree in a related field. A minimum of 5 years experience working in conferences or events. Knowledge of event planning best practices and trends. Ability to organize work effectively on multiple projects, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment. Ability to work independently under minimal supervision. Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills and attention to detail. Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships. Ability to demonstrate a commitment to service excellence by embodying Roosevelt's core values, mission, and vision in every aspect of the role working with students, faculty, staff, and visitors. A positive and professional demeanor is a must. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook. #CB

Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in a related field
