Required Qualifications: (As Evidenced by an Attached Resume)
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or higher. One (1) year of full time current, responsible financial accounting experience including financial reports, account analysis and bank reconciliations. Must have analytical experience, be accurate with figures, well organized and exercise sound judgment in decision making. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. Ability to deal with people tactfully and effectively in a large and complex working environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Computer literacy and experience with general ledger programs.
Three (3) or more years of full time, responsible accounting experience, preferable within a University or large not-for-profit environment. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge database. Knowledge of PeopleSoft or Oracle Cloud General Ledger. Knowledge of banking software. Ability to interact with multiple levels of the organization and multi-tasking
Brief Description of Duties:
The Accountant II will use the knowledge of large scale Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) to independently deal with financial transactions between general ledger and sub-ledgers; resolving discrepancies; prepare financial or management reports; maintain financial records; prepare and reconcile monthly financial reports for account holders; analysis and reconciliation of transactions of the fund-raising and financial systems.
- Perform corporate accounting functions including reconciliation of general ledger and sub-ledgers transactions and posting; review of revenue to ensure that gift and non-gift deposits are properly classified and recorded.
- Review of financial transactions according to general accepted accounting principles.
- Preparation of financial and 10+ bank reconciliations.
- Reconcile revenue transactions on a daily, monthly and annual basis.
- Analyze and reconcile transactions between fund-raising and financial system.
- Resolve fund related problems, discrepancy and follow up with departments and related parties.
- Assist Advancement staff and SBF account holders for various inquiries, donor related issues and financial reporting request.
- Prepare Semi-Annual Lobbying reports and expense analysis, compile information and review various Multi-State Registrations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Special Notes: FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
