The Department of English at the University of Toronto, St George campus, invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment in the field of 17th Century Literature and Culture, with special emphasis on Milton. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate or Full Professor and will begin on July 1, 2018.
Applicants must have a PhD in English or appropriate field and an established international reputation based on a record of scholarly excellence appropriate to their career stage. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct innovative research at the highest international level and to maintain an outstanding, externally funded research program. The successful candidate must display evidence of excellence in both research and teaching. Evidence of excellence in teaching should be demonstrated by a strong statement of teaching philosophy, excellent teaching evaluations, and strong endorsements from referees. A teaching dossier should be submitted as part of the application. Evidence of excellence in research should be demonstrated by a record of sustained contributions and publications in leading presses and in leading journals in the field, presentations at significant conferences, and strong endorsements by referees themselves of high international standing. The successful candidate will be considered for a Canada Research Chair (tier I).
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
