The Department of Family Medicine, Johnson Depression Center has an opening for a full-time, University Staff (unclassified) EHR Professional (Business Services Senior Professional) position.

Job Summary:
Jobs in this career family provide general business operations of the organization or a combination of operational responsibilities covering multiple career families. Functions include institutional research, statistical analysis, policy development and review, strategic planning and broad unit business operations such as parking and transportation services, risk management, childcare services, real estate and property management, retail services or job responsibilities that combine fiscal, HR and operational management responsibilities.

Senior Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial, and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. Work is performed fully independently.

Position Emphasis:

The Electronic Health Record System Professional (EHR Professional) will manage the development, implementation, and sustainability of the EHR System for one of the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinics at the University of Colorado Denver , to include agency-specific setup, integration testing, end user training and troubleshooting, as well as managing timeline and deliverables. This position will serve as the EHR system administrator and primary point of contact for all end users for support, as well as submit support tickets to EHR vendor as needed. Other broad-scoping responsibilities, include: creating and maintaining documentation on the clinic's unique EHR processes, policies, system configuration, training guides and help related materials for end users; working closely and regularly with leadership and clinical staff to ensure accurate and timely data collection (in EHR and other methods), as well as completeness of data for analysis and reporting purposes; and regularly produce reports, graphs, tables, charts etc. that effectively presents and summarizes data.

The EHR Professional will have prime responsibility for the following functions:
  • Providing local clinic help desk support.
  • Documenting initial cases.
  • Routing cases to the Plexus Application Management Support (PAMS) team as necessary.
  • Resolving hardware and local network-related issues.
  • Resetting appliances and performing local work.
  • Requesting software application changes.
  • Requesting new reports and document desired end goals.

The EHR Professional will have joint responsibility with the EHR vendor for the following functions:
  • Reviewing monitoring alarms and confirm default actions.
  • Reviewing application system optimization recommendations within the change control process.
  • Updating application system to agreed-to recommended settings.
  • Participating in the software change control process.
  • Testing application software changes.
  • Testing reports.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position has been established at $45,000 - $55,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in business, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution and 2 years of professional level experience as a lead point of contact for clinical-level electronic health records.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five (5) or more years or experience as a lead for clinic-level electronic health records.
  • Experience working with Veteran and/or Military populations.
  • Experience working in a mental health clinic.
  • Experience working with big data sets, database management, and data quality assurance.
  • Experience evaluating EHR data to inform quality improvement initiatives.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Ability to train use of an EHR to small to medium size groups with diverse experience levels, both in-person and virtually.
