Degree and Area of Specialization:
Certified Financial Planner or a Master's degree in Consumer Science, Business Administration or closely related field is required.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Experience teaching in the areas of consumer behavior or the consumer and the marketplace is required. Teaching experience at the university or college level is preferred.
Teach one section of Consumer Science 635, Estate Planning for Financial Planners, in Fall 2017. The course covers gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax law from the perspective of the personal financial planner. Fundamental estate and gift areas covered include taxable transfers of property during life and at death, property valuation, marital, charitable and other deductions. Methods of property transfer, including probate, contractual beneficiary designation and operation of law will also be covered as well as family business entities such as family limited partnerships, limited liability companies and corporations.
