Position Information: Under the direction of the Student Academic Affairs office and under general department supervision, the incumbent is responsible for academic advising undergraduate majors in Psychology, Neuroscience, and Psychology/Law and Society using developmental advising techniques. Approximately 80% of time will be spent discussing, clarifying, and providing direct assistance to students on curricular requirements, college, and university policy and procedure, making referrals to appropriate departments on campus to meet student needs and tracking general academic progress of students including providing final clearance of graduate applications. Approximately 20% of time will be spent on advising support activities, general administrative duties, and participation in orientation/recruitment events.
Minimum Requirements: Abilities in problem identification, reasoning, ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques, knowledge of multiple majors, colleges, & schools.
Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving.
Ability to multi-task.
Thorough knowledge of college/school policies, procedures, and requirements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including active listening.
