Atlanta Metropolitan State College, a four-year degree-granting institution of the University System of Georgia, is accepting applications for four full-time Academic Success Advisors I/II in the Center for Academic Advising & Success CAAS). Atlanta Metropolitan State College currently serves 3,200 urban commuting students on its beautifully landscaped campus, which is located 10 minutes south of downtown Atlanta, and 10 minutes north of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. 

These full-time exempt Academic Success Advisor I/II positions reports to the Director for the Center of Academic Advising & Success. The position is responsible for responding to the academic concerns of students; advising students (first-year and continuing students, as needed); assisting students in registering; reviewing degree audits, and implement student retention strategies. Likewise, the Academic Success Advisor I/II must possess advising, communication, and public relations skills in order assist students in academic jeopardy. The successful candidate will also provide academic and remedial tutorial support, conduct academic success group tutoring sessions and workshops and as well assist students through additional instructional material, agencies, or other resources. In addition, the Academic Success Advisor I/II communicate and collaborate throughout the College advising community, assist in the development of student course schedules, review, interpret, and evaluate student test scores, while adhering to strict confidentiality and other ethical standards. 

Dependent upon education and experience a candidate may be placed in one of the two titled positions - Academic Success Advisor I or Academic Success Advisor II. Entry into the applicant pool requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and one year of experience working with undergraduate students or young adults in an advising, coaching, academic, or career services counseling capacity at a high school level or in a higher education support setting. 

Level I requires a bachelor's degree and one year of experience in advising and/or tutoring of which one year includes full-time primary duties of advising and/or tutoring in higher education. 

Level II requires a master's degree and three years of experience in advising and/or tutoring of which two years includes full-time primary duties of advising and/or tutoring in higher education. 

A selected candidate should be able to demonstrate experience or interest in helping students transfer into and out of Bachelor-level degree granting programs. The successful candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Ellucian Degree Works?, and possess the ability and desire to provide quality advisement and academic support to students from diverse backgrounds, exhibit a spirit of collegiality, and demonstrates willingness to effectively collaborate and cooperate with other members of the faculty, staff, and administration. Knowledge of federal regulations such as Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as it relates to student accommodation is expected.  

Applicants are preferred to have experience using BannerĀ® by Ellucian and using Crystal Reports. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in advising and are able to provide academic tutoring in the following areas: 

English/Writing - A degree in English, Reading, Literacy Studies or related English/writing area. Completion through upper level Literature courses, with an A or B in each related course-taken and tutoring experience in specific subject. 

Math/Accounting - A degree in Mathematics, Accounting, or related math area. Completion through upper level math/accounting courses, with an A or B in each related course-taken and tutoring experience in specific subject. 

Science - A degree in Biological Sciences, Anatomy, Biology, Chemistry, Allied Health, Physics, or related science area. Completion through upper level science courses, with an A or B in each related course-taken and tutoring experience in specific subject. 

Social Sciences - A degree in Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, History, or related social science area. Completion through upper level social science courses, with an A or B in each related course-taken and tutoring experience in specific subject. 

Desired qualifications include a working knowledge of the University System of Georgia's core curriculum and policies in addition to Atlanta Metropolitan State College's mission, catalog, policies and procedures.
