The Communications Specialist at Temple University���s College of Engineering reports to the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communication with responsibilities in support of communications plans for the college. He/she will help implement the voice of the College to build a strong identity and present a consistent and professional image to all external and internal constituents. The Communications Specialist supports strategic communications goals and various departments to raise the profile of Temple Engineering, branding, marketing, recruiting, communications and fundraising.

The Communications Specialist will write faculty/student/alumni profiles, news articles, web page content, media alerts and press releases, and newsletters in addition to covering events and performing interviews in order to create a steady stream of content. He/she will manage and execute strategic plans for social media and media relations for the college. The Specialist will also assist in choosing photographs, info graphics, and related items that support the content. Executing a bi-weekly community newsletter, assembling a monthly alumni communication and updating content on the College website will also be part of the role, as well as acting as project manager for some ad-hoc communications projects. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or related field and at least 2 years of experience doing similar work that includes tailored writing to a particular audience, delivering content through multiple formats (web, print, and social media) and media relations. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Strong oral and written communications skills coupled with strong collaboration and team building abilities.
*Writing is the primary skill set required.
*Excellent organizational, project management and planning skills with the ability to successfully manage many projects and multi-task.
*Strong interpersonal skills; a positive, collegial attitude; a high level of professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively.
*Demonstrates initiative, is a self-starter and completes tasks with minimal supervision.
*Occasional evening and weekend work is required.

*Professional Experience with posting and creating content for social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube, as well as emerging social tools and networks.
*Experience with Google Analytics
*Photography and/or graphic design skills.
*Experience in Higher Education
