Manager of Annual Giving & Events
Schedule Information: M-F, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Duties of Position:Creates and implements annual giving tactical plan that presents Harper College’s philanthropic needs to community members, faculty, employees, volunteers, business leaders, alumni, and students. Develops and implements an annual giving program, annual events, and special campaigns to solicit and secure gifts up to $10,000 from individuals, organizations and businesses. Identifies, cultivates and solicits a portfolio of 125 to 250 individual and corporate prospects. Plans and implements a comprehensive direct mail campaign that utilizes advanced donor segmentation and donor upgrade techniques (moves management) to generate new and repeat gift to the college. Plans and directs the Employee Giving Campaign by working with appropriate internal departments, employees and faculty to create a comprehensive program that creates a culture of philanthropy and educates the Harper community as to the philanthropic needs of the College. Supports the Foundation’s on-line giving program to solicit gifts, capture constituent and event registrations and utilize e-communications. Manages annual social media campaigns and special projects such as #GivingTuesday to solicit gifts, capture constituent and event registrations and utilize e-communications. Generates financial reports and status on the operation of the Annual Fund responsibilities. Proactively responds to areas to achieve annual financials goals. Develops, implements and directs the annual fund special events including Golf Outing, Gala, and stewardship and cultivation events throughout the year. Works with event volunteer, board committees leaders and internal staff. Coordinates the Harper College donor recognition effort including annual, lifetime and planned giving society lists, donor walls and naming opportunities. Assists with reconciling and analyzing all donations received and entering gifts into Raiser’s Edge. Responsible for reconciling deduction reports for payroll. Facilitates negotiations with contractors and/or vendors for the Foundation’s special events. Serves as a liaison on event-related matters such as scheduling and maintaining communication with vendors and participants, coordinating and monitoring event timelines, and assisting with the preparation of event-related publications Coordinates and facilitates the selection of individuals to serve on the Annual Giving Committee and event committees. Formulates and disseminates gift acknowledgement letters and honor/memorial letters for all donations received and secures appropriate signatures. Implements and prepares for all aspects of annual fund and event committees meetings, including taking minutes. Acts as back-up to Database Manager. Performs related duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, English, Journalism, Communications or related area.
Experience Requirements:Minimum three years progressively successful non-profit development experience, preferably with a focus in annual giving. Strong organization and communication skills are essential. High level of confidence using Raiser’s Edge or similar constituent database. Volunteer management experience with high-level donors and volunteers. Strong technical orientation and ability to analyze data. Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint. Engage in a team environment, by collaborating with others, ability to build positive relationships, and respond to all work related requests and needs.
