The State University of New York at Geneseo Office of Admissions is seeking a self-motivated, results-oriented individual who has a demonstrated commitment to the values of a liberal arts education for an Admissions Counselor position.
Responsibilities for this position include actively recruiting and counseling prospective students. Activities include, but are not limited to: effective correspondence with prospective students and other constituents including written and verbal communication through territory management, interviewing and group presentations; substantial travel including high school visits, college fairs, and regional presentations; event planning; application assessment; representing the College and department at on and off campus events; and assisting with various projects in the office.
Candidates are required to work alternative schedules during recruitment periods. Many of these responsibilities entail evening and weekend commitments.
Qualified applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and be highly motivated, creative, flexible, detail focused and adaptable to changing environments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities
Possession of a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment
Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary
Professional or paraprofessional experience in admissions or commensurate experience in student life
