    The Department of Classics at the University of California, Irvine, invites applications for part-time lecturer positions for the 2017-18 academic year, teaching in Fall 2017 and Spring 2018.

    Fall 2017: Service period: 9/25/17-12/15/17, Pay period: 10/1/17-12/31/17
    Spring 2018: Service period: 3/28/18-6/15/18, Pay period: 4/1/18-6/30/18

    Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Classics or other appropriate discipline and preferably at least one year of university teaching experience. The anticipated teaching load is two courses on the quarter system (one section in Fall, one section in Spring). The scheduled courses are: upper-division International Studies and the Classics, specifically non-Greco-Roman ancient empires including Egypt and Persia (Fall 2017), and upper-division Greek poetry (Spring 2018). Experience in teaching Greek and proven excellence in teaching are essential. The salary per course is $6,512.38 (based on an annual full-time salary of $52,099).
