The Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Virginia, seeks candidates for a Research Scientist to work in the laboratory of Dr. Amy Mathers. The candidate is expected to conduct and be involved in the planning of research on the presence of Enterobacteriaceae in the environment, natural history and understanding of horizontal gene transfer among Enterobacteriaceae and other Gammaproteobacteria in a complex environmental biofilms, dynamics of biofilm mobilization and composition under select environmental conditions as well as other types of related research. Duties also include writing and preparing manuscripts for scientific publication; making presentations at local, regional and national levels; and supervising and training students and staff in a collaborative fashion within the laboratory.
This position is restricted and is contingent upon funding.
Candidates must have a PhD, a minimum of three years post-doctoral experience, and a
record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
