SOUND DESIGNER, PODCASTS, WBUR Program & Production (4788/G0717)
The Sound Designer/Podcasts is a creative design position fully responsible for the production of WBUR broadcast quality audio through digital and/or analog audio editing and mixing. Working both independently and in collaboration with podcast producers, the Sound Designer/Podcasts edits and mixes podcasts for WBUR's iLab, a podcast incubator that generates, implements, and develops brand new podcasts. The Sound Designer records and mixes promotional announcements, and designs other material as assigned by the Manager of Podcast Productions. He/she must have first rate engineering skills plus an imaginative/creative approach to audio production and sound design for media. Must be able to envision and shape the ideas producers propose for each piece; since this will require an ability to work conceptually without a defined structure, the development of each piece will be an ongoing conversation between the Sound Designer and producers rather than a set of directives. As such, clear communication and interpretive skills are critical.
