Job Description Summary:

The George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs (ESIA) is one of the world's leading schools of international affairs and one of the largest school of international affairs in the United States. Located in the heart of Washington, D.C., its mission is to educate the next generation of international leaders, conduct research that advances understanding of important global issues, and engage the policy community in the United States and around the world.
A Program Coordinator is now being sought to provide administrative support to the Elliott School's mid-career program, the Master of International Policy and Practice (MIPP), and the Elliott School's executive education program, the National Security Studies Program (NSSP). The Program Coordinator reports to the MIPP and NSSP director and serves as a liaison to various departments in all of the MIPP program's activities, including programming, event planning, and some minor student advising. He or she also supports planning and delivery of the two-week NSSP Senior Manager Course in National Security Leadership and other NSSP executive education programs.

Responsibilities include:
• Provides day-to-day administrative and operational activities. Maintains budget and processes expenditures and reimbursements.
• Serves as a liaison between students, faculty, staff, other departments, and/or the general public on various issues.
• Supports organization and delivery of executive education programs, meetings, conferences, and other events.
• Supports marketing and recruitment for MIPP and NSSP; communicates with agency training coordinators and potential students, and participates in meetings and other outreach efforts.
• Tracks and collects various records and other data, prepares reports, and maintains records.
• Updates website and social media outlets.
• Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior professional experience in either project or program management is encouraged
• Experience with marketing, outreach, and event planning is desirable
• Capacity to work successfully with senior executives from government and/or the private sector is desirable
• Experience with website design and management is desirable
• Experience with international students and/or in educational environment is desirable
• Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
• Familiarity with word processing, database management, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Strong teamwork and organizational skills
• Willingness to learn other skills such as desktop publishing, maintenance of social media outlets
• Current Elliott School MA student desirable
