Position Summary: We are seeking a project manager to assist with the daily operations of a clinical trial- Maximizing Trichiasis Surgery Success (MTSS) that we are initiating in Ethiopia in 2017. The goal of the trial is to evaluate 2 surgical procedures for correcting in-turned eyelashes (trichiasis). The project manager will spend 50% time helping to coordinate the implementation of this study, including managing Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, providing data collection support and training, and assisting with general study logistics. The project manager may need to travel to Ethiopia to assist with study set up and monitoring or to assist with troubleshooting as the study gets up and running. In addition to working on the MTSS trial, the project manager will be responsible for providing general assistance with a series of ongoing epidemiologic studies focused on eye diseases both in the US and abroad. He/she will manage IRB applications, oversee data collection teams to ensure high-quality data collection, assist with manuscript preparation and submission and provide support for grant submissions for future studies.
Education Requirements: Masters degree in Public Health or related graduate degree.
Qualification and Experience: Required Require candidates with leadership skills and effective project management skills and experience in conducting research projects including planning and implementing and analyzing data; quantitative analytic skills with ability to derive implications from data and convey them graphically to a broad audience; proficiency with computer software including MS Office Suite and familiarity with SAS; the nature of the work is collaborative with UNC team and international partners. Therefore, a strong capacity to work as part of a team and effective interpersonal and group facilitation skills are essential. Preferred Experience working on research projects in developing countries.
