About The Unit: Annually named to the US News & World Report list of the best hospitals in the USA, the clinical facilities at the University of Chicago currently includes Mitchell Hospital, a 395-bed adult hospital facility, Comer Children's Hospital with 155 beds, and the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine, a 525,000 square foot outpatient clinic and surgery facility. In addition, a 1.2 million square foot new hospital, the Center for Care and Discovery, opened in February 2013. The Department of Radiology operates facilities in all of these locations to provide multidisciplinary care and education.

Unit Job Summary: Manages clerical staff: Ensures a quality administrative experience for all Department visitors, faculty and staff. Provides guidance and ensures consistency and compliance with scheduling, itinerary coordination, and other day-to-day administrative responsibilities. May provide coverage during gaps in administrative coverage due to absence, leaves of absence, and vacancies. Direct and monitor the work of clerical staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness of work product. Develops and implements office procedures and policies. Ensures compliance of office staff with relevant office, University and other policies and guidelines. Supports administration and management staff of Radiology residency and fellowship programs, imaging physics residency program, and graduate program in medical physics. May hire train, appraise, promote, discipline and terminate office staff, which may include both exempt and non-exempt employees. Supports staff and faculty recruitment and onboarding efforts. Coordinates CBIS/UCM IT system access for BSD faculty and staff. Supports the efficient and effective management of the department's faculty operation through oversight of regulatory requirements and compliance: American Board of Radiology Maintenance of Certification program, fraud awareness and patient safety compliance, CME and ongoing licensure requirements, compliance for training in infection control, code pink, fire and safety, conflict of interest, TB testing, flu shot and timely submission of credentialing and re-credentialing packets for 40 UCM clinical faculty, 4 APNs, 6 NorthShore/NW physicians. Oversight for the purchase of goods and services and the processing of reimbursements. May select vendors. Researches, compiles and analyzes data to create operational reports, presentations, proposals and other documents. Drafts and finalizes internal and external communications by assisting in creating and revising program material, developing and revising web content under the direction of the Executive Director or Department Chair. Updates and maintains appropriate internal and external information. Manages space, facilities and equipment which may include renovations, moves, repairs and upgrades. Coordinates logistics and assists in planning events. Manages and oversees department CME activities. Manages special projects or functions related to the business of the organizational unit. Other duties as assigned.

Unit Education: Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of two years progressively responsible administrative experience OR a minimum of five years progressively responsible administrative experience required. Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or related field preferred.

Unit Experience: Supervisory experience preferred.
