The eCommunications Professional will serve a wide variety of CU Boulder constituencies by acting as a subject matter expert, operational professional, and support resource for electronic communications planning, distribution and analysis. This role also supports campus and unit strategic priorities with specific emphasis on supporting/sending bulk email communications, creating registration forms for events, and implementing the system wide eComm platform (currently, Salesforce, Marketing Cloud and Cvent).

What your key responsibilities will be:

Electronic Communications Coordination and Deployment
  • Coordination and training of campus constituents on the eComm platform software programs (Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, Cvent), assessing and addressing technical needs for campus users, and supporting the broader eComm initiative through trainings, documentation and helpdesk support.
  • Bring professional expertise and insight into platform uses, deployment and support.
  • Build emails and event registrations for various campus units or provide technical support and training to those units that want to build and send emails and event registrations themselves. This involves coordinating with campus units (schools, colleges, departments and programs) to give them access to the tools and/or build standalone emails and/or events registrations on their behalf. This will include ongoing training and technical support for electronic communications tools and processes, and reviewing events created in Cvent.
  • Provide analytics of emails and event registrations for campus units that request them.
  • Act as front-line customer service for support requests for electronic communications that are received through the university's OIT support system or the system eComm helpdesk. Examples of troubleshooting may include tracking down why users are not receiving emails, walking people through the email or event building process, solving registration issues or helping users send emails through the electronic communications tools.
  • Elevate support requests and troubleshooting information to other team members, campus units or the vendor as necessary.
  • Responsible for coordinating with other campus and system units to maintain a coordinated calendar of communications to ensure the highest possible level of engagement from targeted audiences, while reducing reader opt-outs.

Data Integrity, Coordination, and Creation
  • Responsible for reviewing static lists provided by constituents for data integrity, uploading reviewed static lists and new contacts in Salesforce, opening support tickets when data integrity issues are discovered, modifying dynamic list code as needed and/or creating simple dynamic lists.
  • Work with eComm and campus colleagues to ensure accurate targeting of campus messages and compliance with campus policy and Federal law regarding communications.
  • Understand FERPA, HIPAA, CAN-SPAM and other relevant legislation and will apply these guidelines when coordinating communications.
  • Work with closely with identified data analysts to provide relevant metrics for assessing communications programs, communications audiences and engagement profiles.
  • Support campus units with data and metric work for whom the position acts in a support role.

Content Management
  • Be facile within an electronic communications environment and work with Office of Strategic Relations colleagues to deploy content (graphics as well as text and video elements) via email communications.
  • Have functional ability to use content management systems and their supporting software.
  • Synthesize and edit content created by others, and place content into the electronic communications system.

Other Duties
  • Participate in news and media relations efforts, deploy emergency communications, serve as back-up for administrative campus-wide email messaging, and participate in strategic efforts for the Office of Strategic Relations and other duties as assigned.

The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $50,000.00-$55,000.00, commensurate with experience. Qualifications


What we require:
  • BA in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or advertising or equivalent work experience in a related field or profession.
  • Two or more years of experience using ExactTarget/Marketing Cloud platform.
  • Two or more years of experience with Salesforce as a data and reporting tool.
  • Two or more years of experience managing email campaigns.
  • Experience editing and building graphics for email campaigns.

What you will need:
  • Understand FERPA, HIPAA, CAN-SPAM and other relevant legislation and will apply these guidelines when coordinating communications.
  • Have functional ability to use content management systems and their supporting software.

What we'd like you to have:
  • A MS degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or advertising.
  • Experience with the Cvent event management platform.
  • Three to five years of experience managing email campaigns.
  • One to three years of graphic manipulation experience.
  • Experience with a content management system, Drupal preferred.
  • Previous communications work for a sustained period in a higher education environment, or a corporate environment or non-profit organization, with preference given to internal communications experience.

Preferred qualifications may be used to further reduce the pool of applicants to those who are most highly qualified.
