University of North Texas - HR Consultant II (Benefits Compliance Manager) - Ft. Worth
The System Human Resources Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a HR Consultant II (Benefits Compliance Manager) to join our team. This is a professional administrative position providing support for the effective delivery of benefit programs to UNT System institutions including retirement plans, reconciliation, and general compliance. In conjunction with the Benefits Manager, this position supports and manages the development, implementation and evaluation of benefit programs for the Total Reward Center of Excellence. As a strategic partner, this position aligns total reward initiatives with institutional objectives. This position reports to the Director of Total Rewards. An employee in this class may provide supervision over professional, paraprofessional, and clerical staff as assigned. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: * Serves as a benefits subject matter expert and provides specific expertise for benefits program strategy, design, policy interpretation, and implementation. * Provides context for benefits requirement definition in terms of legal implications, policy, and cost. * Manages retirement vendor relationships. * Partners with retirement plan consultants to identify program and process modifications. * Coordinates Retirement Committee meetings and materials. * Provides oversite of daily work related to retirement programs, audit projects/reconciliation, and Family Medical Leave. * Oversees benefit audits and ad hoc audit requests. * Develops specifications and Request for Proposals for new or improved benefit plans, evaluates proposal, and make recommendations. * Ensures relevant HR policies are current, broadly disseminated, and practiced. * Partners with campus HR to understand and interpret business requirements. * Conducts research and gathers competitive intelligence. * Assess the effectiveness of benefit programs in meeting institutional strategic objectives. * Provides advice and counsel on trends and current development in the field of employee benefits programs. The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration or related field and a minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in human resources supporting a diverse workforce to include a minimum of four years experience related to support and administration of benefit programs for a large organization including working with a retirement vendor to evaluate and maintain retirement plans. * Thorough knowledge of the state and federal regulations related to administration of benefits programs to include retirement plans. * Excellent consulting and client management skills. * Strong business literacy skills. * Strong interpersonal, conflict management and negotiation skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to develop strong relationships in order to gain support and achieve results. * Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities. * Ability to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations accordingly. * Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of PeopleSoft desired.
