Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Pediatric Intensivist)
Department of Pediatrics at SUNY Downstate Medical Center (Brooklyn, NY) seeks Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Pediatric Intensivist) for Division of Pediatric Critical Care, University Hospital of Brooklyn (UHB). As a member of the faculty, the candidate will be active in the educational programs of the Department and the Division, including medical student teaching. Non-clinical time will be used pursuing academic and scholarly endeavors and participating in departmental and institutional activities. The candidate will teach in departmental and divisional didactic activities including but not limited to Journal Club, Morning Report, Grand Rounds, Morbidity and Mortality Conference, Pathophysiology Conference and other education forums as appropriate. Clinical care will be provided by the candidate in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Step Down Unit at UHB. The candidate’s clinical responsibilities will include equal sharing of inpatient rotations for the Critical Care Division’s clinical service; providing service to attending physicians administering conscious sedation services in the PICU and other areas of the hospital (i.e. Radiology); pain management; transport from other hospitals to UHB; consultative services; and procedure support.
Requirements: M.D. degree, Board Eligible/Certified in Pediatric Critical Care, NYS Medical License, 5 years' experience of pediatric critical care in clinical settings, strong interpersonal skills, and experience teaching residents and medical students in an academic setting. The candidate will supervise medical students who wish to participate in clinical research, and is expected to develop and implement clinical research in respiratory syncytial virus infection (RSV), generate peer reviewed publications, and present data at national meetings.
