Collaborating with academic partners, faculty and staff, the Professional Nursing Tutor is instrumental in helping Chamberlain students during their academic program and as they prepare for success with the NCLEX-RN exam. Working with students individually and in small groups, the Professional Nursing Tutor will assess learning styles, identify strengths, and discover opportunities for academic development. Creating and implementing personalized remediation plans, the Tutor is an important partner for our students as they prepare for academic and professional success.

In this role, you will:

    Plan and lead individual and collaborative group sessions that encourage student engagement and academic development Facilitate subject matter comprehension and practical application of key course objectives
  • Engage a diverse student body comprised of a variety of ages, cultural backgrounds, ethnicities and academic preparation
  • Help students build test-taking skills, study strategies and time management techniques as they complete their academic program and prepare for examinations (course, standardized, and professional/NCLEX-RN)
  • Assist with assessing the academic needs, developing and documenting plans for remediation
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of subject matter and the essential elements assessed in NCLEX-RN exam
  • Communicate academic progress of students to the Assistant Dean of Academic Success, documenting progress using Tutortrac®
  • Demonstrate passion for education, student success, professional behavior and accountability in meeting service standards



You are encouraged to explore this opportunity if you have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and at least 1 year of recent professional nursing experience (an MSN or master's in nursing education is preferred)
  • At least 1 year of experience teaching, precepting, tutoring, training, student advising or providing student-facing academic support
  • A current unencumbered nursing license (RN)
  • Genuine passion for nursing, education, and lifelong learning
  • Exceptional subject matter expertise with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite® software
  • A flexible schedule with availability to tutor on evenings or weekends as/if needed
