Marketing Coordinator

About The Unit: The UChicago Presents concert series seeks an individual with superb communication and organizational skills, interested in being a vital part of a respected organization dedicated to the presentation of a wide range of musical events, including classical and early music, but also contemporary music and jazz. This is a part-time, permanent position (up to 19.5 hours per week) without benefits. One of Chicago's oldest and most distinguished concert series, the University of Chicago Presents was founded in 1943 with the goal of bringing to Chicago world-renowned artists for concerts and educational programs that would attract audiences from all parts of Chicago and its surrounding suburbs. The season typically includes several series, including the Classic Concert Series (chamber music and recitals), Howard Mayer Brown International Early Music Series, Contempo (the University's ensemble devoted to the music of today), the Artist-in-Residence series, and a five-concert jazz series. Most performances take place at Mandel Hall, the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts and Rockefeller Memorial Chapel on the campus.

Unit Job Summary: Under general supervision, the Marketing Coordinator plans, develops and disseminates information designed to inform the public of the organization's programs. Accomplishes assigned duties through written communications; visual/graphic media, which may include website maintenance; copywriting and/or editing for marketing materials, press releases, radio and print advertisements, Constant Contact emails, social media outlets, websites, posters, and annual fundraising solicitations. Manages weekly sales reports and databases (including list exchanges) to support the growth of the organization. Represents the organization at performances and events by interacting with press and concert patrons and distributing marketing materials. Other related duties as assigned. Compensation: $20-25/hr. for up to 19.5 hours per week. No benefits.

Unit Education: Bachelor's degree required.

Unit Experience: Experience writing well with excellent proofreading required; Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel required. Experience in marketing and communications in the arts, preferably in the classical or contemporary music fields; Experience with branding, databases, Constant Contact, and social media preferred.

Preferred Familiarity with the University of Chicago.
