Summary of Duties:
Senior-level position responsible for leadership and oversight on all Washington State University real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions; long-term leases and ground leases, acceptance and management of endowment properties, and development and execution of privatized development projects. Provides strategic vision on real estate strategies, deal structures and execution to ensure the greatest benefit for the University.

The Executive Director is responsible for leading and managing a high performing organization and mentoring professional staff in the Real Estate Services department. The ED must develop strong and effective working relationships with staff on all campuses and locations; develop business strategies that optimize the University's real property assets; provide real estate management and portfolio strategy services and expertise in support of the University strategic goals and mission. This position advises University leadership and implements strategies relating to the sale, acquisition and leasing of University real property, including negotiating and drafting agreements for real property transactions; and is familiar with lease structures, including ground leases, office leases and various financial structures.

This role requires collaboration with campus leadership and administrators, the attorney general's office and other attorneys and agents on transaction structure, details and financing, as well as communications with other internal and external constituents and stakeholders. The position and department works very closely with Facilities Services and coordinates property and space leases through that organization. In addition, this position provides both oversight and assistance for property transactions at all WSU campuses and non-campus leases.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and eight (8) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least three (3) years of managerial experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment.
