To help support the work of the University we have an immediate opening for an Executive Director of Development. The Executive Director of Development reports to the Vice President for University Advancement.
The Executive Director of Development holds responsibility for all aspects of development management. The ED will report directly to the Vice President for University Advancement, and will supervise Annual Giving, Individual Giving/Donor Relations and Corporate/Foundation/Government Relations. The ED will hold a portfolio primarily of corporate, foundation and government prospects and will be responsible for managing the overall fundraising goal for CFG as well as overseeing fundraising success of Individual Giving and Annual Giving. S/he also coordinates closely with the Alumni Relations and Advancement Services areas of Advancement. This position is primarily an “internal” management position that will manage a portfolio of corporate, foundation and government prospects.
Job Summary/Essential Functions:
Develop and implement fundraising strategies and goals for the cultivation and solicitation of prospects in the execution of the last phase of the $100 million Campaign. This includes a comprehensive fundraising program to acquire major, annual and planned gifts in addition to gifts from local and national corporate, foundation and government prospects. Along with the VP, coordinate campaign-related activities with the campaign committee and other volunteers. Provide leadership to Annual, Individual Giving, and Corporate/Foundation/Government staff, creating fundraising goals and strategies and providing support and direction in creating prospect lists and portfolio assignments. Track staff progress and assist them in prioritizing tasks to meet desired outcomes. Coordinate work with Alumni Relations to ensure that both fundraising and alumni relations staff are working together on an events plan, including the Alumni Weekend and Reunion program. Work with the Executive Director of Alumni Relations to coordinate the work of the Director of Graduate Alumni Relations and Giving. Work closely with the Office of Finance and Administration on grants administration, compliance and other details pertaining to follow-up and reporting functions.
Advanced degree preferred. 8-10 years of advancement experience at a senior management level. Extensive grant writing and grant management experience preferred with federal grants experience a plus. Ability and experience with donor management systems and ability and willingness to travel on occasion.
