Job Summary and Description 

The Director of Nursing provides program leadership and direction to the multifaceted Nursing Program.  The Director is responsible for the oversight of all nursing educational pathways: Traditional 2 year, 2nd Degree Accelerated, Advanced Standing, and the Early Middle College PN Program.  Hires, mentors and supervises all full-time and lead faculty.  Supervises the Nursing Program Director.  Serves as the liaison with the external/community stakeholders and with other divisions in the college to promote student success for pre-nursing and nursing students.  Responsible for Nursing Program budget oversight. Reports to the Associate Dean of Health and Human Services.

 

Education and Experience

Required: 

Masters of Science in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.

Minimum of three years of administrative and supervisory experience in nursing.

Minimum of two years classroom teaching experience in nursing education.

Minimum of two years of nursing practice experience.

Current RN license required.

State of Michigan RN License – in process within 60 days of hire

BLS certification – required within 30 days of hire.

Preferred:  

Accreditation process experience.

Advisory Board experience.

Association with community nursing organizations.
