The Office of Research and Analysis in the Division of Enrollment Management & Student Success (EMSS) at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, seeks a meticulous problem-solver to join its research area.  Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Research and Analysis, the data analyst supports the functional offices of Admission, Bursar, Center for Career Exploration & Success, Enrollment Operations, One Stop Services, Student Financial Assistance, University Registrar, as well as EMSS, by supplying coordinated information to decision makers.  The successful candidate for this position will have a passion for accuracy coupled with an understanding of the complexity of data questions.

Miami’s EMSS Research and Analysis office values critical thinking skills, a sharp eye for detecting discrepancies, creative problem-solving, a commitment to data transparency, an understanding of the need to clarify questions, and a service-oriented approach to addressing the data needs of the office and the university.

 

Duties/Physical Demands: Validating or testing data and reports received from other offices Running existing and writing new reports from institutional databases Fulfilling ad hoc data requests Cleaning, coding and archiving survey, recruitment, enrollment and graduation data Linking data from multiple sources Creating and managing Access databases Staying current with data analytic tools and developments Learning new software as needed Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and data experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access. Skill at creating clear, accurate representation of data.  Ability to work quickly and accurately with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to learn new software and continually acquire new competencies. Good written and oral communication skills.
