Position Summary: The Director of Auxiliary Services is a senior leadership position that oversees departments that provide a variety of auxiliary support services to the University. These departments include UNC One Card, the Person ID (PID) Office, Carolina Dining Services, Printing Services, Carolina Managed Print, Department Laundry Services, Student Laundromat Services, Armored Car Services, and UNC Student Stores. Revenues total about $70 million annually, with more than 400 employees, including contractors. The position reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Campus Enterprises. The position provides leadership in strategic planning and policy, departmental operations, customer service, and employee management and development. This position also ensures the fiscal integrity and compliance of Auxiliary Services operations and manages internal and external relationships. Primary duties include: (1) Planning and Policy: The Director provides leadership for Auxiliary Services in the development and implementation of a strategic planning and goal-setting process that supports the goals of Finance and Administration and the University; (2) Operations: The Director oversees the unit managers in daily operations to ensure that all areas of service delivery are continuously improved to increase customer service and efficiency and to contain cost; (3) Financial: The Director oversees the financial performance of all units to ensure that operating, capital, and debt requirements are met while maintaining the lowest possible pricing. Responsible for the fiscal integrity of Auxiliary Services operations; (4) Human Resources: The Director encourages the development of all employees to their maximum potential through leadership, coaching, support, and training; (5) Internal and External Relationships: The Director builds effective formal and informal communication channels with customers and other University units that are integral to the success of Auxiliary Services, such as Student Affairs, Housing, and Information Technology Services (ITS).

Education Requirements: Advanced degree strongly preferred. A bachelor's degree in business, finance, management, or a related field.

Qualification and Experience: Ten years of progressively responsible experience, including senior level management experience in collegiate auxiliary services operations. Experience in a research university of similar size preferred. The successful candidate will be financially and technologically savvy, innovative, customer focused, and a collaborative leader. Desired qualifications also include: strong planning, analysis, and management skills that balance strategic, industry, business, and financial factors; ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial statements and/or comprehensive financial reports; strong leadership skills, experience leading knowledgeable subject matter experts, and developing staff; experience leading change management, both from an organizational/structural and technical/system perspective; strong organizational skills and the ability to manage simultaneous projects and supervisory responsibilities, often under limited time constraints; exceptional written, oral, and presentation skills; coalition building and collaboration skills; and a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and collaborative decision making in the workplace; ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff.
