Posting Summary:
The College of Arts and Sciences, University of Virginia, seeks to fill a Senior Academic Advisor position during the 2017-2018 academic year. Compensation will take the form of part-time salary (25 hours per week). The Senior Academic Advisor in the College provides academic oversight, coordinates advising, and administers the rules of the College Faculty for approximately 800-1,000 undergraduate students. This person in this position holds daily office hours for undergraduate College students, advises them on a range of academic issues, works with other relevant offices (e.g., OAAA, ODOS, SDAC, CAPS) as needed and conducts the end of semester academic audit. Strong communication skills are required. It is expected that the incumbent will manage communication and inquiries within the established standards and also be involved in some of the administrative work in the office as relevant to the job and as assigned by the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Academic Programs.

Qualifications include a Masters Degree in the liberal arts and sciences and a demonstrated pedagogic engagement with the liberal arts and sciences. Some knowledge of the College and some experience working with diverse student populations is especially desirable. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The desired starting date for the position of Senior Academic Advisor in the College of Arts and Sciences is between July 20 and August 15, 2017 and this restricted position has an anticipated end date of June 24, 2018.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A demonstrated pedagogic engagement with the liberal arts and sciences and basic PC skills are required.
