The Program for Anxiety, Cognition and Treatment (PACT) Lab at the University of Virginia, under the direction of Bethany Teachman, Ph.D, seeks applicants for a Research Associate. The grant funding this position uses a web-based research infrastructure to study the effects of cognitive bias modification (interpretation training) plus supportive coaching to reduce symptoms of anxiety. More generally, the lab investigates cognitive processes that contribute to the development and maintenance of anxiety and related disorders, studying a variety of populations using both lab-based and web-based data collections. The position would involve helping to lead the interpretation training studies and also provide opportunities for developing an individual program of research. The incumbent will conduct data analyses, prepare publications, manage components of ongoing studies, write grants, design new studies, and serve as a collaborative member of a team of research scientists across multiple projects.
A Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or a related field is required, and the candidate will have strong quantitative skills. This position is full-time (40 hours per week) with full-time benefits. This is a one-year appointment; however, the appointment may be renewed up to an additional two one-year appointment, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.
