Bachelor's degree required.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

At least three years of substantial administrative involvement in grants administration is required. Ideal candidate will have significant experience in pre-award research administration, preparation of federal and non-federal grant applications and experience with complex, multi-investigator funding mechanisms. Ability to work effectively with university leadership, researchers, administrators and research collaborators is essential. Demonstrated ability to plan, lead and manage multiple projects within deadline. Effective oral and written communication skills, ability to be flexible in work assignments, independent problem solving and analytical skills, and strong organizational skills are essential. Supervisory experience is preferred.

Position Summary:

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education (OVCRGE) has recently formed the Office of Research Development (ORD) to assist UW-Madison researchers by providing proposal development support for large, complex, interdisciplinary grant proposals to both federal and non-federal grant making agencies. The ORD Assistant Director will lead the activities of this office and will report to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research Services.
