FINANCE AND GRANT MANAGER, CARB-X, School of Law (4206/A2417)
CARB-X has an unparalleled opportunity for a talented individual to join our core team at Boston University in the role of Finance and Grant Manager. CARB-X is a young entrepreneurial endeavor, focused on accelerating the pre-clinical development of products to address antibiotic resistance, including drugs, vaccines and diagnostics. We coordinate with four biopharmaceutical accelerators to select projects for funding and mentor these projects towards clinical trials. We will award more than $350 million for research over the next five years. This will be one of the largest public-private research partnerships in the world. The Finance and Grant Manager will be a critical member of a core team of individuals working together to ensure CARB-X achieves the goals behind its important healthcare-related mission. The Finance and Grant Manager provides budget development, forecasting, and planning for the CARB-X grant. This position provides analytics to support optimal management of the CARB-X portfolio and advises the Project Director and PI regarding portfolio management. He or she coordinates with multiple partners and sub-grant recipients to ensure all aspects of financial operations are in-line with plans and expectations and managed and reported according to University and federal guidelines. The Finance and Grant Manager will be responsible for CARB-Xs reporting obligations under the grant. Bachelors degree required. MBA or Master's in a related financial field preferred. Requires at least 5 years of experience in a finance business partnering capacity, including financial analysis and reporting at a project and portfolio level. Experience with portfolio management processes and approaches is highly desirable. Must have an understanding of operating under a federal/academic grant. Requires expertise with Microsoft Office Suite especially in building Excel models for analytics, forecasting, and budgeting and developing impactful Powerpoint presentations. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with demonstrated leadership skills and ability to meet goals given limited supervision. This position requires strong analytical skills with superior attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication skills in order to clearly share information with cross functional team members and to generate concise reports and verbal updates. Must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and be flexible in a fast paced and dynamic work environment. We are seeking a committed team player with a sense of humor.
