Assistant Baseball Coach
Nature of Work
Reporting to the Head Coach, the Assistant Baseball Coach is responsible for assisting with the management and operational activities of a NCAA Division II sport program.
The position will assist with the organization and administration of the sport program in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the athletic program and the institution. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University's mission, vision, and values which include diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Duties and Responsibilities:
*Execute all responsibilities as an Assistant Coach in a manner that reflects an ongoing commitment to the excellence, integrity, and success of the program, Department of Athletics, and Albany State University.
*Assist with preparing and organizing daily practice sessions, game preparation for competition, and off-season training.
*Assist with preparing schedules for non-conference home/away games to the Director of Athletics and Head Baseball Coach.
*Assist the Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator with the recruiting of prospective student-athletes in accordance with the NCAA, SIAC, University System of Georgia, and Albany State University policies and procedures.
*Assist with the execution of team and recruitment travel in conjunction with the administration adhering to compliance of all internal and external rules and regulations.
*Assist with the coordination and execution of ordering and inventory for program equipment and supplies in conjunction with the administration while adhering to compliance of all internal and external rules and regulations.
*Engage in regular consultation with athletic training and other department sports medicine personnel to maximize the safety and wellness of student-athletes.
*Demonstrate concern for the overall welfare of the student-athletes at all times.
*Assist the Head Coach with recommending scholarship awards for student-athletes to the Director of Athletics.
*Responsible for working in conjunction with athletics administration for tracking the admissions and eligibility process involving student-athletes.
*Responsible for working collaboratively with the Compliance Officer.
*Responsible for monitoring and supporting student-athletes academic progress in consultation and coordination with department and institution academic support staff.
*Responsible for the upkeep of the turf on the fields; assist the Head Coach in ordering supplies to maintain the fields in excellent condition.
*Responsible for purchasing gas for all equipment used on athletic fields and maintaining proper fluid levels in all equipment as well.
*Responsible for minor maintenance issues on equipment and must report any equipment problem immediately to the Head Baseball Coach.
*Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations of the NCAA, SIAC, University System of Georgia, and Albany State University.
*Responsible for assisting and supporting the Department of Athletics in administration and operations as deemed necessary by the Head Coach and Director of Athletics.
*Prepare, assist, and participate in camps and clinics as necessary.
*Actively participate and assist in promotional, marketing, public relations, and fundraising activities for the program and the department.
*Promote a culture of outstanding sportsmanship of leading by example.
*Attend and/or participate in all required conference association meetings, events, and championships if the Head Coach is unable to attend.
*Active participation in respective sport association.
*Report any known violations or concerns to administrators and Head Baseball Coach.
*Perform other duties as assigned.
Training and Experience
*Bachelor’s Degree Required
*Master’s Degree Preferred
*At least three years of athletics work experience
